Overview
In this role you will help develop electrical infrastructure and power systems solutions to support the energy transition. You’ll join a collaborative energy team located in Manchester or Sheffield, working on grid integration, electrification, and low-carbon projects. You’ll analyse and model electrical systems, contribute to feasibility studies, and produce technical deliverables for multidisciplinary teams. Responsibilities
- Support technical analysis and modelling of electrical power systems
- Assist with feasibility studies and early-stage infrastructure design
- Contribute to HV grid connection studies and network assessments
- Develop technical reports, calculations, and engineering deliverables
- Support design and assessment of electrical infrastructure solutions
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on low-carbon energy projects
- Provide input on electrical requirements of renewable generation, storage, and decarbonisation strategies
Key requirements
- MEng (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, preferably with Power Systems focus
- Strong fundamentals in Power Systems, Electrical Distribution Networks, Electrical Infrastructure Design
- Understanding of power systems and network studies, grid connection processes, grid capacity and network constraints
- Experience with DNOs/TSOs through study or practice
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills
- Interest in energy transition, renewables, electrification, and low-carbon infrastructure
- Desire to work toward Chartered Engineer status and professional membership (e.g. IET)
