Engineering Manager

Overview

In this senior role you will own engineering operations across the site, driving reliability, efficiency, and capital improvements. You will lead a multi-disciplinary engineering team and collaborate with the leadership team to deliver Manufacturing Excellence. You’ll balance asset performance, compliance, and sustainability to support business growth. The role offers strategic impact, overseeing budgets and major projects. This is a hands-on leadership position in a family-owned manufacturing environment focusing on long-term reliability and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing engineering team
• Create and implement engineering strategies aligned with long-term objectives
• Improve asset reliability, maintenance performance, and operational efficiency
• Manage a rolling capital investment programme including major projects
• Ensure compliance with engineering, health & safety, environmental, and food safety requirements
• Oversee engineering budgets and identify cost optimisation opportunities
• Support sustainability through improved energy, water and utility management

Key requirements

• Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• NEBOSH or IOSH qualification
• Formal management qualification
• Experience leading engineering teams in a manufacturing environment
• Strong understanding of maintenance strategies and asset management
• Confidence managing performance, budgets and priorities
• Ability to make clear decisions in time-critical situations
• Strong communication skills and inclusive leadership style
