Lead Control Systems Project Engineer Rail

Overview

In this role you lead the delivery of Control, Command and Signalling systems on a major UK rail programme. You will coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities, manage interfaces and contractors, and drive the CCS work through design, installation, testing, commissioning and handover. You own the engineering programme and align with project governance and rail standards. This is a high-impact opportunity to shape delivery on a complex railway initiative and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities
• Manage interfaces and contractor engagement
• Steer CCS programme through design, installation, testing, commissioning and handover
• Challenge engineering programmes and ensure schedule integrity
• Take ownership of the engineering delivery within a major rail project
• Ensure governance and engineering assurance across the programme

Key requirements

• Significant experience delivering rail signalling, control or CCS systems on major railway projects
• Strong engineering leadership and management experience
• Experience taking railway systems from scheme/detailed design into physical delivery and handover
• Experience of GRIP 4 through GRIP 8 or equivalent lifecycle stages
• Demonstrable experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and technical interfaces
• Strong stakeholder management across engineering, project, commercial and contractor organisations
• Ability to own an engineering programme rather than function as a pure technical specialist
• Strong understanding of engineering assurance and governance within rail
