Senior Software Engineer, Prime

Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer in the Prime team, you own the design and end-to-end delivery of core systems that move institutional capital. You will lead engineers through high-ambiguity problems, set the bar for reliable, correct architecture, and act as a technical partner across Robinhood. The role combines hands-on building with leadership to ensure safety and scalability in capital markets workflows. You will work in London, contributing to a mission-critical platform for institutional clients and tokenized securities. Responsibilities

• Lead design and end-to-end delivery of large, complex systems moving institutional money (settlement, credit, lending, cross-venue flows) from spec to production
• Create detailed technical designs, decompose work, and define failure states and invariants before shipping
• Shape the team’s architecture and roadmap with a focus on reliability, correctness, and risk control
• Elevate the team through design-focused code reviews and mentorship; serve as a technical contact for partner teams

Key requirements

• Track record of independently delivering complex, high-ambiguity backend projects in production
• Experience building financial systems with non-negotiable correctness (balances, ledgers, risk, settlement, payments)
• Deep expertise in distributed state, transactional integrity, idempotency, and exactly-once semantics
• Strong design judgment with explicit failure paths, invariants, and enforcement mechanisms
• Excellent communication and ability to align across teams and partners
• Proficiency in Python (Django) and Go
