Commercial Lawyer

Overview

As a Commercial Lawyer in Freshfields’ Legal Department, you will advise on a broad mix of commercial, technology and procurement matters, partnering with a global network of offices. You’ll draft and negotiate client-facing agreements, support strategic initiatives, and contribute to risk-aware, commercially sound outcomes. The role offers exposure to senior stakeholders and high-profile projects that shape the firm’s growth. You will thrive in a fast-paced, international environment by delivering practical, solutions-focused guidance that aligns with the firm’s objectives.

Responsibilities

• Provide pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice to stakeholders across the firm
• Draft, review and negotiate a range of client-facing commercial agreements
• Advise on procurement and supplier arrangements for effective outcomes
• Support department-wide and firm-wide transformation initiatives
• Develop guidance, templates and best-practice resources
• Deliver training and awareness sessions to legal and business services teams
• Collaborate with the Legal Department to identify and mitigate risk
• Build relationships with stakeholders at all levels as a trusted adviser and business partner

Key requirements

• Qualified lawyer with demonstrable post-qualification experience
• Experience advising on commercial matters in a law firm, professional services, international organisation or in-house team
• Strong drafting, negotiation and analytical skills
• Ability to balance legal risk with commercial objectives
• Proactive, solutions-oriented approach
• Ability to influence stakeholders across functions and seniority
• Strong time management and attention to detail
