Senior Process Engineer

Overview

As Senior Process Engineer within the @one Alliance, you will provide technical leadership across process design for major water infrastructure projects, ensuring deliverables meet standards, budgets, and timelines. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams in a hybrid setup, driving safety, sustainability, and digital innovation. Your role supports Anglian Water’s AMP8 programme and contributes to high-impact, environmentally responsible outcomes. This is an opportunity to shape process design practices within a forward-thinking alliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the process design workflow to deliver projects on time, within cost, and to quality standards
• Review mass balances, process sizing, hydraulic calculations, P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and other design docs for accuracy and compliance
• Respond to construction site design queries and change requests to preserve design integrity
• Support Project Design Managers with design planning and stakeholder engagement for process design acceptance
• Provide technical input for supplier contracts and deliverables review
• Champion health, safety and welfare, ensuring designs comply with process standards and DSEAR regulations
• Mentor and develop junior engineers, promoting best practice
• Embrace innovation and digital technologies to reduce carbon impact in design
• Participate in wider Anglian Water initiatives such as HAZOPs, standards forums, and emergency response

Key requirements

• Engineering degree (Chemical, Mechanical, Process) or equivalent experience
• Chartered status or working towards chartership
• Extensive experience in the water sector, especially process design and capital delivery projects
• Thorough knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and environmental requirements
• Proven track record of mentoring and developing junior engineers
• Experience in a Design & Build environment is advantageous but not essential
• Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making abilities with a collaborative approach
• Commitment to sustainability and reducing environmental impact of engineering solutions
