We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Distribution Planner to join our pallet distribution operation. The successful candidate will have proven pallet network/distribution planning experience and a demonstrable track record of delivering efficient transport plans, meeting service levels, and supporting operational performance.
This role is critical in ensuring the effective planning and coordination of distribution activities while providing support and guidance to the existing planning team. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, capable of managing customer expectations, liaising with drivers, and driving continuous improvement through KPI management.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate daily pallet distribution activities to maximise efficiency, service levels, and vehicle utilisation.
- Produce effective transport plans while considering customer requirements, delivery windows, and operational constraints.
- Monitor and adjust plans in real time to respond to changing operational demands.
- Support the wider planning team with problem-solving and operational decision-making
- Monitor, analyse, and report on key operational KPIs
- Handle customer enquiries professionally and efficiently.
- Provide timely updates regarding deliveries, collections, and service issues
- Maintain regular communication with drivers throughout the day
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Previous pallet distribution planning experience is essential.
- Proven track record in a transport planning role within a pallet network or distribution environment.
- Strong understanding of transport operations, routing, and vehicle utilisation.
- Experience managing and reporting on operational KPIs.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Proficient in transport management and planning systems, as well as Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience in a senior or supervisory planning position.
- Experience supporting and mentoring planning teams.
