Overview

As a Geotechnical Engineer, you support Geotechnical Construction Phase Support (CPS) on the HS2 route, collaborating with designers and contractors to ensure safe, compliant geotechnical outcomes. You will review and witness testing, manage site observations, and support data-driven decisions through ITPs, FCRs, NCRs, and monitoring data. You contribute to field inspections, data logging, and geotechnical reporting, ensuring solutions meet project requirements and standards. The role offers hands-on site work, cross-functional collaboration, and the chance to impact a major transport project.

Responsibilities

  • Review and identify DJV witnessing requirements for client testing and inspections
  • Attend on-site to witness client inspections and testing samples
  • Review construction records and ensure DJV site observation reports are auditable
  • Support Field Change Requests by reviewing site technical queries and guiding design changes with external assurance as needed
  • Respond to Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and facilitate DJV support
  • Analyze monitoring data from Instrumentation and Monitoring (I&M) and provide technical support
  • Attend regular I&M meetings with client and HS2 and advise on design mitigations for data trends
  • Manage earthworks and geotechnical data logging
  • Perform slope and formation geological inspections for various structures
  • Contribute to Geotechnical Feedback Reports and mentor junior staff
