Overview

In this role you will lead the estates operation at Solihull Hospital, safeguarding safety, compliance and efficiency of the healthcare estate. You will steer multidisciplinary teams, manage budgets and contracts, and contribute to long-term infrastructure planning within a major NHS trust. The position offers impactful work in a high-stakes, multi-site environment where rigorous standards and continuous improvement drive results. You will be the site lead for asbestos and a deputy responsible person for water safety, shaping a safer, compliant estate.

Responsibilities

• Lead statutory compliance and operational estates functions across the Solihull site (mechanical, electrical, building services).
• Line manage Estates Officers and support development via training, PDRs and performance management.
• Manage budgets, procurement, and financial reporting for estates services and projects.
• Oversee risk and safety management and ensure adherence to H&S legislation.
• Act as site lead for asbestos and deputy responsible person for water safety; contribute to long-term infrastructure planning.

Key requirements

• Experience of managing estate services in a major acute trust.
• Experience of contract and project management.
• Experience across multi-site and cross-department operations.
• Experience in staff development and performance management.
• Proven ability to interpret and manage complex information including budgets and projects.
• In-depth knowledge of health & safety legislation, asbestos and water safety compliance (HSAW).
• Advanced IT skills; experience with specialist systems such as asbestos management software and AutoCAD.
