Operations Manager

Overview

As Operations Delivery Manager, you will lead SMOC to ensure resilient, compliant service delivery for NIGHTSHADE within a secured defence environment. You will drive operational performance, governance, and cross‑functional coordination with suppliers and MoD stakeholders. The role combines day‑to‑day management with strategic improvement to accelerate throughput and maintain UK export and security controls. This is a high‑impact position in a regulated, technical setting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations and milestone delivery to MoD quality standards
• Ensure SSCR, DE&S frameworks, and ECJU/ITAR/EAR compliance
• Monitor supply chain, manage supplier performance, and mitigate risks
• Lead cross‑functional teams and allocate resources across contracts
• Implement continuous improvement to reduce throughput times and waste
• Manage external stakeholders including MoD and prime contractors
• Maintain operational readiness and business continuity planning
• Drive governance and operational performance across services

Key requirements

• Operational management experience in defence, aerospace, or heavily regulated engineering sectors
• Budgets of 5M+ management, forecasting, and contract tracking under MoD frameworks
• Working knowledge of DEFCONs/DEFSTANs, ISO 9001, AS9100
• Supplier management and stakeholder engagement skills
• Track record in operational efficiencies and automation
• Team coaching and leadership in high-security environments
