Emergency Care Practitioner

Overview

In this role you will deliver both in-surgery and remote consultations, and also undertake home visits for housebound patients. You will make clinical decisions and apply interventions across settings, with autonomous practice under practice policies. You’ll collaborate with a duty team for advice and support and contribute to an on-the-day emergency service within the practice. The position supports development as part of the MDT and may involve independent prescribing. This role offers flexible hours with a focus on urgent care delivery and patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Undertake autonomous consultations to diagnose, treat, refer, or discharge patients
• Maintain accurate clinical records efficiently
• Make direct referrals to primary, secondary and social services within local pathways
• Support the on-the-day emergency patient service in the Practice
• Work as part of the ECP team and in MDT settings
• Promote health and well-being through health promotion and education
• If independent prescriber, prescribe safely within legal frameworks
• Complete mandatory training and CPD, stay updated with changes
• Adapt to changes in duties to meet practice needs

Key requirements

• Be a registered paramedic with HCPC registration
• Minimum of 3 years post-registration experience
• Experience of dealing with vulnerable patients
• Desirable: Independent prescribing qualification
• Desirable: Experience of working in a GP practice
• UK professional registration current
