Principal Engagement Consultant (South East)

Overview

In this role you drive stakeholder engagement for UK infrastructure projects, shaping how communities perceive and interact with developments. You’ll be part of the Planning and Consents unit, collaborating across WSP to deliver thoughtful, best-practice communications. You’ll manage public consultation, develop engagement plans, and translate complex information for diverse audiences. The role offers exposure to major programmes and opportunities to influence project outcomes and community impact.

Responsibilities

• draft and deliver stakeholder engagement strategies to support UK infrastructure projects
• write clear communications to help communities understand project impacts
• enable questions and feedback via communications, events, and surveys
• interpret data, present themes and issues to inform project development
• provide engagement advice and create materials such as virtual consultation rooms, posters, banners, and maps
• collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver effective communication and engagement
• manage projects with attention to timeline, budget, and resources for clients

Key requirements

• experience delivering communications and stakeholder engagement on complex infrastructure projects, preferably in a consultancy
• degree‑qualified (or equivalent) with experience in communications, engagement, or related advisory role
• sector experience in transport, utilities, water, environment, or energy is desirable
