Overview

In this role you will support SZCs procurement and the Senior Commercial Manager during pre-award, shaping contract scope, value and requirements. You will help align technical, commercial and regulatory terms across the project and prepare ITT/RFQ packages. You will manage supplier relationships, govern contract administration, and contribute to procurement strategy and governance for timely award. This megaproject offers the chance to shape a major low-carbon energy initiative within a safety- and client-focused team.

Responsibilities

  • Support procurement and the Senior Commercial Manager during pre-award; assess scope, duration and value and define commercial requirements
  • Participate in commercial reviews of technical and commercial requirements; ensure alignment of scope, services, planning, safety and quality
  • Prepare, evaluate and negotiate ITTs; ensure tenders meet scope and commercial requirements
  • Stakeholder management across the project; manage supplier/contractor relationships
  • Implement progress and dashboard reporting; prepare contract-specific progress reports
  • Maintain procurement and contract files; interface with Legal on contract terms and NDAs
  • Ensure collaborative working strategy is followed in procurement
  • Develop ITT/RFQ packages including technical, commercial and legal documentation
  • Capture and apply lessons learnt from HPC to SZC procurement strategy
  • Support Senior Commercial Manager/Supply Chain Lead to secure timely contract award approvals

Key requirements

  • Progressing to full membership of RICS/CICES/IOB is preferable
  • Relevant degree level is preferable
  • Track record administering successful contracts
  • Effective commercial/contract management skills and knowledge of best practice
  • Strong commercial thinking and ability to make sound financial decisions
  • Understanding of contract performance measurement, risk, change and claims management
  • Negotiation, influencing and communication skills
  • Familiarity with NEC and FIDIC contracts; knowledge of UK law and its impact on contracts
  • Familiarity with nuclear site licence conditions and nuclear baseline philosophy
