We are looking to strengthen our engineering team with a Senior MechanicalEngineer based at Maple Lodge, Rickmansworth with hybrid working available.
You will report directly to the Regional Discipline Leadand your role will be to provide superior quality Engineering Design services to allow the company to minimise risks and maximise profits on turnkey and engineering services contracts. You will co-ordinate the design and produce design documents and drawings taking due account of health and safety requirements, specifications and standards pertaining to the contract.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Reportto Principal Engineer, Design Managers, Technical Discipline Lead and RegionalDiscipline Lead.
- Producedesign layouts which are cost effective, meet the requirements of thespecification and which can be constructed and commissioned effectively.
- Productionand Checking of all design deliverables including Specifications,Schedules, Drawings and Calculations.
- Workingalongside other disciplines for the development of site/plant 3D model.
- Ensurethat standard designs & practices are utilised wherever possible.
- Deliveringthe design stage outputs of each project within the agreed timescale andbudget.
- Coordinatingdesign outputs across all technical disciplines.
- Maintaincompetitiveness.
- Provideestimates and feedback for Proposals department.
- Establishworking relationships with construction staff and supply chainrepresentatives to promote buildability and supply chain efficiency indesign outputs.
- Workto procedures and processes to ensure the continuing development of thedepartment.
- Assistin developing procedures and processes.
- Monitorand review the procedures and processes.
- Write, update and monitor efficient proceduresto aid the smooth running of the department.
- Ensure co-ordination of designs with all other disciplines internal and external to MWHT in order to ensure that the design processes carried out on the contract are co-ordinated for the benefit of the contract as a whole.
- Maintain files and records throughout the duration of contracts.

Essential:Demonstrable experience and knowledge of engineering principles including structures, materials, hydraulics and environmental engineering.Understand the principles of water and sewage treatment.Have experience of managing/mentoring members of staff in designing relevant discipline aspects of water and sewage treatment plantsMembership of a professional institution charteredPreferable: – relevant discipline Engineering degreeMinimum:- relevant discipline Engineering HNDAbility to rationalise designs and produce economic plant layoutsGood general knowledge of all aspects of water treatment, e.g. mechanical engineering, process engineering, electrical engineering and project managementWorking knowledge of roles and responsibility under CDM 2015 Regulations.Working knowledge of industry standards (BS, WIMES, BSRIA, etc.), HSE regulatory requirements (PUWER, LOLER, PSSR 2000, DSEAR, etc.), The Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2016 (Reg31), Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI), etc.A flexible mind, with the ability to assimilate large amounts of different data at one timeAbility to present technical proposals clearly, confidently and convincinglyComputer literacyAbility to get to sites and offices in the region is essentialDesirable:Relevant Engineering Master’s Degree
