Test Engineer – SC Cleared

Overview

In this role you will design, build and own Java-based test automation, creating robust frameworks and delivering comprehensive automated test coverage. You’ll work within an agile delivery team, partnering with developers and product owners to ensure high-quality releases. You’ll drive quality through test strategies, CI/CD integration, and a mix of automated and manual testing when appropriate. Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain Java-based automation frameworks from scratch
• Deliver automated test coverage across functional, cross-browser, API, integration and acceptance layers
• Extend API test suites using Karate or REST-assured and validate service contracts
• Define and execute test strategies and traceability from requirements to test coverage
• Support development teams with automated tests and contribute to test-driven or behavior-driven approaches
• Perform front-end cross-browser testing, exploratory testing, system integration testing and user acceptance testing as needed
• Record defects accurately, analyze root causes and drive continuous improvement
• Review and improve test environments, CI/CD integration and testing processes
• Provide test estimates and contribute to planning with evidence-based testing effort

Key requirements

• Strong Java skills and ability to build and own test automation frameworks
• Hands-on experience with Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or Karate
• Experience delivering automated test coverage across multiple testing layers
• API testing experience with Java-based frameworks and contract testing
• Experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines and maintaining quality gates
• Experience in agile/scrum environments and understanding testing in sprints
• Clear communication of test progress, gaps and defect trends to stakeholders
• Residence in the UK for 5+ years with SC clearance eligibility or current Security Clearance
• Strong test strategy, planning, and defect analysis capabilities
