Overview

In this role you will lead mechanical testing, calibration, and commissioning of submarine systems at HMNB Clyde Faslane. You will work at the heart of submarine readiness, ensuring systems meet high safety and quality standards. You’ll collaborate across disciplines to solve engineering challenges and support national defence. The position offers hands-on responsibilities with a clear impact on safe, reliable combat systems delivery. Responsibilities

• Conduct mechanical testing, calibration, and commissioning of submarine systems
• Support the Senior Test Engineer to optimise team performance and resource allocation
• Apply safety, quality, and environmental standards across commissioning activities
• Review engineering documentation and contribute to cross-functional problem-solving
• Collaborate with contractors and internal teams to manage risks and meet commissioning goals

Key requirements

• Proven experience in mechanical commissioning and testing
• Ability to work autonomously and within multidisciplinary teams
• Strong understanding of safety and quality protocols in engineering environments
• Experience interpreting technical documentation and resolving engineering issues
