Head of Corporate Finance

Overview

In this role you will support the CFO in shaping the Group’s long-term financial and strategic plan. You will lead end-to-end M&A activity, build robust investment appraisal standards, and drive capital structure decisions. You will develop advanced financial models and prepare papers for Board-level governance. You will lead a high-performing Corporate Finance function and stay attuned to healthcare market dynamics to inform strategic choices.

Responsibilities

• Support the CFO in developing and executing the Group’s long-term financial and strategic plan
• Lead end-to-end acquisition, merger, disposal and strategic partnership activity from assessment through due diligence, approval and completion
• Establish and maintain robust investment appraisal standards and methodologies across the Group
• Support the CFO with debt financing, refinancing, banking and wider capital structure activities
• Develop and oversee complex financial models covering valuation, forecasting, investment appraisal and scenario planning
• Prepare high-quality investment papers, Board materials and Executive Committee submissions
• Monitor developments across the healthcare market, including competitor activity and investment trends
• Lead and develop a high-performing Corporate Finance function with clear direction and coaching
• Ensure corporate finance activity is undertaken within appropriate financial, regulatory and organisational governance frameworks

Key requirements

• ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent recognised professional accountancy qualification
• Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience
• Significant corporate finance experience in a large corporate, healthcare organisation, professional services firm or investment environment
• Proven experience leading or playing a significant role in M&A transactions, including due diligence and transaction execution
• Advanced financial modelling, valuation and investment appraisal expertise
• Experience developing robust business cases and evaluating significant capital investments
• Experience preparing and presenting financial analysis and recommendations at Executive and/or Board level
• Strong commercial judgement with ability to evaluate complex strategic opportunities
