Senior Estimators

Overview

As Senior Electrical & Mechanical Estimator, you lead the development of robust, risk-informed cost estimates for complex multidisciplinary projects across onshore and offshore programmes. You will own estimating strategy, coordinate inputs from engineering and commercial teams, and ensure adherence to Arcadis standards and industry practices. You’ll deliver detailed CBS-to-WBS aligned estimates with clear audit trails, supporting decision-making and senior stakeholder communications. The role offers impact across infrastructure, nuclear, defence, energy, and industrial sectors, shaping project outcomes and estimating capability.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain project Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS) aligned with client Work Breakdown Structures (WBS)
• Lead development of detailed Electrical and Mechanical estimates from concept to detailed design
• Apply CESMM4, ICMS2, ICMS3 cost classification and measurement standards
• Prepare quantities, cost models, benchmark analyses and estimating reports
• Develop estimate basis documents, registers, productivity models and benchmarking analyses
• Coordinate inputs from civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and process disciplines
• Support estimating activities for major infrastructure, nuclear, defence, energy, utilities, industrial, offshore and onshore projects
• Review contractor quotations and assess value engineering opportunities
• Support cost assurance and estimate validation exercises
• Mentor and coach junior and intermediate estimators
• Present estimate outcomes to clients and senior stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with Arcadis estimating standards, governance and quality procedures
• Support business development and client relationship activities

Key requirements

• Significant experience in electrical, mechanical or MEP estimating
• Experience producing estimates for large and complex capital programmes
• Membership of a professional body (CIOB, RICS, ICE, etc.) and eligibility to obtain CTC/SC clearance
• Strong understanding of CBS and WBS development and integration
• Working knowledge of CESMM4, ICMS2 and ICMS3 estimating and cost classification methodologies
• Experience in Nuclear, Defence, Energy, Utilities, Transportation or Buildings sectors
• Strong understanding of cost planning, risk analysis and benchmarking techniques
• Experience reviewing contractor pricing and commercial submissions
• Strong stakeholder management, leadership and technical review capabilities
