Overview

As Category Manager you drive the Pumps & Pumping category strategy within BSS, shaping product ranges, pricing, and supplier relationships. You’ll work with branches and sales teams to deliver the category plan and improve performance across the supplier base. The role combines analytical decision making with cross‑functional collaboration to optimise margins and customer experience. This is a chance to influence product mix, negotiate key agreements, and contribute to a high‑growth commercial agenda.

Responsibilities

  • Review trading performance to identify opportunities and risks and take action accordingly
  • Lead category pricing and range reviews to optimise performance
  • Define supply base strategy and manage supplier relationships for maximum return
  • Negotiate key supplier trading agreements and input into rebate management systems
  • Develop cross-functional relationships across brands and with TP Group to support the category plan
  • Engage with branches and sales teams to implement the category plan

Key requirements

  • Commercial experience in plumbing/heating or merchanting, in a category management or sales/customer-facing role
  • Strong applied analytical skills and data-driven decision making
  • Ability to shape and execute commercial strategy
  • Strong relationship building with suppliers and collaborative/cross-stakeholder engagement
  • Experience in fast-paced, matrixed environments with excellent communication and influencing skills
