Overview

In this Senior ML Engineer role, you will lead large-scale data curation and rare-event mining within the Core Model Safety team to improve robustness of driverless operation. You’ll evaluate real-world performance, identify failure modes, and drive improvements across data and model systems. You work closely with research, simulation, evaluation, and applied engineering to build safe, scalable ML capabilities. The role offers ownership of substantial technical areas and a chance to shape autonomous driving capabilities at Wayve.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on large-scale data enrichment within the Core Model Safety team, collaborating with Pre/Midtraining, reward modelling, self-supervised labelling, and the Data Enrichment Platform
  • Build workflows for large-scale enrichment, data curation, and hard/rare event mining to support robust model performance and introspection
  • Design and train out-of-distribution detection mechanisms for robust driverless operation
  • Work at the intersection of model engineering, infrastructure, compute, and data to shape cross-team architecture
  • Improve the overall efficiency of the machine learning and operations stack using your judgement and expertise

Key requirements

  • Hands-on experience with ML systems deployed in the real world
  • Proficiency in Python and PyTorch with strong software engineering practices and experience building reliable ML training and evaluation systems
  • Strong track record with ML operations and infrastructure, including distributed computing environments and large-scale inference
  • Senior-level ownership and collaboration: able to lead a substantial technical area, work across research and engineering boundaries, and communicate clearly
