Consultant Psychiatrist Learning Disabilities – Daventry/Sth Northants

Overview

In this role you will lead high-quality clinical care for people with learning disabilities within a multidisciplinary team. You will collaborate to drive innovative approaches and contribute to service development across the Trust. The post offers opportunities to engage in research and teaching while providing leadership across locations within the Trust. This is a chance to shape LD services in a dynamic, national-repute environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership and expert psychiatric input within the learning disability MDT
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care across multiple locations within the Trust
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop and innovate LD services
• Act as Responsible Clinician under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act
• Travel to all locations within the Trust as required
• Engage with research activities and teaching opportunities within the Trust

Key requirements

• MRCPsych or Equivalent
• Full GMC Registration
• Specialist Register/CCT in Learning Disability
• Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act and able to act as Responsible Clinician
• Minimum six years postgraduate experience (including three years as SpR in approved training post)
• Current UK professional registration

• Effective written and verbal communication
• Ability to motivate and develop junior medical staff and MDT members
• Collaborative and people-centric leadership
• Specialist LD psychiatry expertise
• Experience with governance around Mental Health Act responsibilities
• Research publication (desirable)
