Overview
As an Electrical Engineer within the Approval Authority, you directly support current operations and future programmes for Clyde Nuclear Facilities. You will work in a multi-disciplinary team to ensure design substantiation, safety and regulatory compliance, and effective stakeholder guidance throughout the asset lifecycle. You will apply electrical engineering expertise to high-hazard projects and contribute to safety cases, ITAs, and independent reviews. Responsibilities
- Author, maintain and manage Nuclear Infrastructure Design Substantiation documentation
- Assess and control engineering design changes and concessions
- Present technical substantiations to Nuclear Safety Committees
- Develop and maintain EIMT schedules, procedures and testing requirements
- Produce and review Periodic Reviews of Safety (PRS) and safety case documentation
- Provide technical advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders
- Conduct Independent Technical Assessments (ITA) and Independent Peer Reviews (IPR)
- Apply engineering expertise to support nuclear and high-hazard projects using existing and emerging technologies
- Support the design, operation, maintenance and decommissioning of engineering systems in regulated environments
- Produce robust technical justifications for electrical design modifications and approvals
- Review contractor technical reports, safety cases and engineering submissions
- Verify and approve engineering calculations and technical documentation produced by other engineers
Key requirements
- 5+ years’ experience in Electrical Design Engineering
- Proven ability to produce robust technical justifications for design modifications
- Strong knowledge of electrical legislation, codes, standards and regulations
- Familiarity with recognised industry engineering guidance and best practices
