Civil Engineer

Overview

In this Civil Engineer role, you will deliver water-sector civil designs and associated calculations, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to meet standards, budgets, and schedules. You will progress projects from feasibility through construction, conduct asset condition surveys, and contribute to standard product enhancements. You will promote health and safety in design and support digital, sustainability, and people objectives. This is a hands-on position with impact across large-scale infrastructure and asset integration.

Responsibilities

• Produce civil designs, calculations and specifications for water-sector assets, including ductile iron, steel, and plastic piping
• Collaborate with multi-discipline design teams to deliver on time, within budget, and to standards
• Drive health and safety in design by identifying hazards and reducing risks
• Progress projects from feasibility to detailed design and construction
• Conduct site visits to assess asset condition and gather survey data for integration
• Support updating and expanding standard products used in design solutions
• Identify opportunities to meet digital, sustainability, innovation and people objectives

Key requirements

• BEng or MEng/MSc in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Ideally progressing towards Chartered Engineer status
• Experience with structural calculations for concrete structures
• Experience with relevant engineering design software packages
• Knowledge of British Standards and Eurocodes; ability to interpret ground investigation reports
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
• Strong reporting writing and data analysis skills
• Ability to challenge current ways of working and propose new approaches
