Mechanical Engineer

Overview

As a Mechanical Engineer at SSE Thermal, you will contribute to the safety, reliability, and efficiency of Keadby Power Station through asset integrity management and proactive maintenance. You will work within the engineering team to translate station strategies into actionable plans and projects. You will drive maintenance planning, budgeting, and contractor oversight, delivering projects from justification to commissioning. Responsibilities

• Assist strategic management and integrity of mechanical assets across the station
• Contribute to maintenance plans, including resource planning, budgeting, and contractor oversight
• Manage engineering projects from financial justification through commissioning
• Maintain and optimise plant performance focusing on safety, reliability, and efficiency
• Provide technical support and maintain accurate engineering records per legal and company standards

Key requirements

• Degree-level qualification in a relevant engineering discipline
• Previous experience in power station maintenance
• Strong understanding of SHE standards; NEBOSH certification advantageous
• Proficiency in Maximo and other relevant IT tools and financial reporting systems
• Extensive experience in managing plant overhauls and understanding power station operations
• Ability to challenge conventional thinking and implement innovative solutions
