Principal Pharmacist (Clozapine and Community Mental Health Services)

Overview

In this role you will lead the development and delivery of the Community Clozapine Pathway within Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust. You will provide strategic and clinical leadership for community clozapine services, medicines optimisation, and safety programmes across mental health services. You will drive service transformation, workforce development, and governance to improve outcomes for people living with treatment-resistant schizophrenia while reducing inpatient admissions. This is a patient-centered, cross-functional leadership position with a clear impact on care pathways and system-wide improvements.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for clozapine services, including initiation pathways and medicines optimisation initiatives
• Develop and promote a responsive, patient-focused clinical pharmacy service for community mental health services
• Offer expert pharmaceutical advice to the multidisciplinary team to maximise safe, effective, and economical medicine use
• Lead development and oversight of community clozapine initiation services ensuring equitable access
• Support Community Mental Health Transformation programme pathways, protocols and guidelines
• Lead and deliver specialist clozapine services including physical health monitoring and medicines optimisation

Key requirements

• Master of Pharmacy degree or equivalent; GPhC registration
• Non-Medical Prescribing or willing to work towards it
• Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent
• Significant experience in specialist mental health pharmacy services; service development and quality improvement experience
• Desirable: experience developing/implementing clozapine pathways; project management or QA training
• Essential: evidence of delivering education and training to healthcare professionals; medicines safety, risk management and clinical governance experience
