Construction Estimator

Overview

In this role you will prepare accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for residential developments, working with commercial and technical teams to ensure competitive, viable bids. You will conduct viability analyses, review drawings and specs, and source/subcontractor quotations to optimise cost. You’ll identify savings opportunities and support the procurement process to meet deadlines. This is a chance to contribute to a well-established South Wales residential developer with a strong pipeline of work. You will apply your practical estimating experience to help shape competitive projects from early viability through tender submission.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for residential developments
• Conduct viability studies
• Review drawings, specifications and related documentation
• Obtain and analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations
• Carry out material and labour take-offs
• Identify potential cost savings and commercial opportunities
• Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams
• Support the commercial team through tender and procurement
• Ensure estimates are accurate, competitive and submitted on time

Key requirements

• Experience as an Estimator in the open market within residential construction
• Strong understanding of housebuilding and construction costs
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and schedules
• Knowledge of subcontractor and supplier markets across South Wales
• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Proficient in estimating and Microsoft Office software
