Senior Project Communications Manager

Overview

In this role you drive regional project communications, embedding best practice and governance across delivery. You will lead a high-performing regional comms community, align stakeholder and customer communications with contractual goals, and safeguard reputation while seizing strategic opportunities. You’ll shape the One Comms Collective Strategy, oversee resources and governance, and partner with Group Communications to manage high-profile or sensitive matters. This is a leadership role focused on delivery impact, risk, and continuous improvement in a complex infrastructure environment.

Responsibilities

• Drive regional implementation of the One Comms Collective Strategy and ensure delivery of contractual requirements and stakeholder confidence
• Lead, coach and grow the regional Project Communications community and manage talent development
• Own regional communications resource planning and workforce strategy to meet current and future needs
• Provide strategic oversight of stakeholder engagement, customer communications, community relations and employee engagement aligned to business objectives
• Identify and deliver strategic communications opportunities to enhance reputation and support growth and market position
• Establish and govern communications standards, policies, governance processes and performance measures
• Act as senior communications authority for the region with compliance to contractual, regulatory, and brand requirements
• Lead management of reputational opportunities and risks arising from projects and wider business activities
• Build and maintain senior customer relationships as trusted advisor on communications and stakeholder matters
• Champion innovation and best practice, adopting new approaches and tools to improve effectiveness
• Work with Group Communications, Media Relations, Public Affairs and Leadership teams on high-profile matters
• Lead regional crisis communications preparedness and response capability
• Shape and influence work-winning activity with strategic communications leadership for bids and business development
• Use data and feedback to drive continuous improvement and knowledge sharing across the business

Key requirements

• Extensive communications leadership experience within infrastructure, engineering, construction or similar complex environments
• Strong understanding of stakeholder management, customer communications, community relations and reputation management
• Experience handling sensitive and complex issues
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Self-starter capable of managing conflicting deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office
