Overview

In this role, you help sustain the firm’s financial health by ensuring timely fee collection and timely client billing. You’ll monitor billing activity, work with internal teams and clients to resolve queries, and support e-billing processes. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally to improve cashflow and accuracy in invoicing, contributing to a stable revenue stream. Responsibilities

  • Proactively pursue outstanding invoices via phone, email, and portals to secure payment.
  • Maintain contact with clients’ accounts payable to resolve queries and obtain payment commitments.
  • Monitor aged debt and escalate risks to partners and management.
  • Negotiate payment arrangements with partner consent per firm policy.
  • Manage invoice submissions across e-billing platforms to track status, rejections, and compliance.
  • Investigate and resolve e-billing rejections with billing teams to enable timely resubmission.
  • Coordinate with clients to verify matter IDs, purchase orders, budgets, and timekeeper rates.
  • Record client billing guidelines, budgets, and approval workflows.
  • Build and maintain relationships with client finance contacts and internal teams.
  • Provide clear communications on outstanding balances, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Act as a point of contact for financial queries from clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Support the development and refinement of credit control processes and reporting.
  • Produce regular debtor performance and billing trend reports for partners and management.
  • Assist in month-end activities.
  • Coordinate with Revenue Control, Accounts Payable, and finance to streamline collections.
  • Support new matter setup with Client Compliance to ensure accurate financial information and compliance with billing protocols.

Key requirements

  • Experience in a revenue or credit control role within a law firm.
  • Strong knowledge of billing systems (ideally 3E).
  • Experience with client e-billing platforms (CounselLink, Legal Tracker).
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with all levels of staff
