Service Engineer (In-House)

Overview

In this workshop-based role you will rebuild and refurbish CNC and conventional machine tools, delivering high-precision mechanical solutions. You work on large, complex machines in a dedicated workshop, with occasional nationwide travel for installations and support. You will collaborate with a specialist engineering team to restore performance through rebuilds, alignments and testing. A hands-on fitter who thrives on solving mechanical challenges will fit this role well, contributing to high-quality service and customer satisfaction. This is a stable, days-based role with strong training and clear progression opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Strip down, repair and rebuild CNC and conventional machine tools, including machining centres and vertical turning lathes
• Fit and align beds, columns, tables, headstocks, ballscrews, linear rails, slideways and spindle assemblies
• Rebuild mechanical systems including gearboxes, drives, bearings and hydraulic components, with precision alignment and geometry checks
• Assist with installations, commissioning, retrofits and customer support, including occasional UK travel

Key requirements

• Experienced Machine Tool Fitter, Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Engineer or Service Engineer
• Background in repairing, rebuilding or maintaining industrial machinery; knowledge of bearings, spindles, ballscrews, motors and gears
• Confident reading engineering drawings and using precision measuring equipment
• Self-motivated, practical, with strong problem-solving and communication skills; able to work independently
