Overview

As a Family Solicitor in Swansea, you will handle public law care matters within a supportive, growing team. You’ll manage a caseload involving care proceedings and children act issues, engaging with CAFCASS, local authorities, and counsel to deliver effective advocacy. The role offers meaningful work with vulnerable clients and opportunities to develop your advocacy, regulatory compliance, and professional growth. You will work in a hybrid setup and contribute to a collaborative department focused on complex children-law matters. Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of public law children matters for various parties
  • Handle care proceedings, Children Act issues, and related hearings
  • Manage case hearings, interim applications, and contested final hearings
  • Advise on child protection, local authority intervention, and threshold issues
  • Draft statements, position statements, and bundles
  • Conduct advocacy in the Family Court
  • Collaborate with counsel, CAFCASS, local authorities and professionals
  • Ensure compliance with Legal Aid Agency requirements and regulatory standards

Key requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ PQE in Family Law
  • Strong experience in public law care work and Legal Aid matters
  • Knowledge of private family work (divorce/finance) beneficial
  • Experience supervising or willingness to supervise
  • Excellent communication and professional handling of sensitive matters
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Panel membership (Children or Family) advantageous
