Associate – Non Contentious Construction – Bath – 2-6 PQE

Overview

In this role you will support a broad range of development, infrastructure and energy projects across the UK, advising funders, developers, contractors and suppliers on non-contentious construction matters. You will manage transactions, advise on JCT/NEC contracts, and mentor junior lawyers while building a strong client network. The position sits in a growing Construction & Engineering team, with emphasis on high-value projects and market development. You will help shape project deliverables, risk management and business development in a collaborative, hybrid-working environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage construction transactions and project deliverables
• Advise on JCT and NEC contracts, security packages and due diligence
• Support development, infrastructure and energy sector projects
• Build credibility with clients, manage expectations around risk, options and timescales
• Develop sector knowledge and demonstrate expertise
• Grow internal and external networks
• Support team profile through networking, publications and seminars
• Manage delegated project aspects and meet deadlines
• Provide guidance to junior team members
• Ensure clear communication with senior and junior colleagues
• Support budget management and efficient use of resources
• Stay informed on legal and sector developments

Key requirements

• 2-6 years PQE in non contentious construction
• Strong familiarity with JCT and NEC standard forms
• Experience with construction security packages and due diligence
• Confidence running transactions with appropriate supervision
• Excellent client management and communication skills
• Enthusiasm for construction, engineering and the built environment
• Collaborative, team focused approach
• Desirable: interest in developing sector expertise (real estate, energy, utilities, infrastructure, health/social care)
