As an Embedded Software Engineer, youll help develop Linux-based software platforms for advanced communications, RF and sensor-processing applications.Responsibilities will include:Developing and maintaining custom embedded Linux distributions using the
Yocto ProjectCreating and maintaining Yocto recipes, layers, images and Board Support PackagesConfiguring, building and debugging Linux systems for embedded hardwareDeveloping embedded software using C and C++Supporting Linux kernel, bootloader and device-driver integrationDeveloping software for microprocessors and System-on-Chip devicesIntegrating hardware interfaces, sensors and communications peripheralsSupporting software-defined radio and digital signal-processing applicationsRapidly developing prototypes and pre-production systemsProducing technical requirements, architecture and design documentationSupporting system integration, verification and technical trialsWorking directly with customers to understand requirements and propose effective technical solutionsThe Ideal Embedded Software Engineer
Youll ideally have at least three years commercial embedded software experience, including hands-on experience with
Yocto and embedded Linux .Relevant experience may include:Yocto Project, BitBake and OpenEmbeddedDeveloping Yocto recipes, layers and custom Linux imagesEmbedded Linux development and debuggingBoard Support Packages and hardware bring-upLinux kernel configuration and developmentBootloaders such as U-BootDevice drivers and low-level hardware interfacesEmbedded C and C++ARM-based microprocessors or System-on-Chip platformsPython or shell scriptingCross-compilation and build systemsGit and continuous integrationSoftware-defined radio, DSP, RF or communications systemsFPGA or VHDL exposure would be advantageousPrototype development, integration and system testingThis position would suit an
