Voluntary Sector Locality Officer

Overview

In this role you will strengthen Islington’s voluntary sector by building partnerships with communities, voluntary organisations and partners, delivering projects and supporting neighbourhood-led solutions that improve residents’ outcomes. You will help grow local networks, manage grant programmes, and ensure community voices are central to decisions while aligning with the council’s priorities. You will collaborate across services and with external partners to tackle inequality and foster a thriving, inclusive local sector.

Responsibilities

• Develop partnerships with communities, voluntary organisations and partners
• Support grant programmes and build the capacity of local organisations
• Ensure resident voices are at the heart of decision-making
• Deliver initiatives across council services and external partners to tackle inequality
• Strengthen local networks and support neighbourhood-led solutions
• Contribute to the delivery of the council’s priorities and impact on residents

Key requirements

• Experience working with voluntary, community or public sector organisations
• Strong partnership-building and stakeholder engagement skills
• Experience delivering projects, programmes or community initiatives
• Excellent communication and influencing skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
