Overview
In this Shift Engineer role, you ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of the hotel’s facilities in a luxury setting. You will support the Engineering team to deliver a safe, efficient environment for guests and associates, solving problems and maintaining high standards. The position is ideal for a hands-on professional who thrives on reliability, multi-discipline troubleshooting, and proactive maintenance. You will contribute to a seamless guest experience and the pre-opening momentum of a flagship property.

Responsibilities
- Respond to guest maintenance requests promptly and professionally
- Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, kitchen, and HVAC equipment
- Inspect tools, machinery and facilities, identify faults and repair as needed
- Troubleshoot and carry out basic repairs across plumbing, electrical, carpentry and general maintenance
- Paint, perform minor repairs, replace fixtures, and upkeep guest rooms and public areas
- Maintain inventory of tools, parts and engineering supplies
- Identify and operate shut-off valves and utility systems safely
- Communicate daily activities and handover notes across shifts
- Support landscaping maintenance including irrigation and external areas
- Apply Lockout/Tagout safety procedures at all times
- Maintain records and use computer systems to log work and adjust equipment settings
- Keep work areas clean, safe and compliant with health and safety standards
- Collaborate with other departments to minimize guest disruption
Key requirements
- Basic knowledge across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry and general maintenance
- Ability to diagnose faults and perform repairs efficiently
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
