Overview

In this role you will independently review retail credit underwriting decisions to ensure alignment with internal procedures and FCA CONC requirements, supporting fair and compliant customer outcomes. You’ll work with the QA framework to assess decision consistency, document outcomes, and provide actionable feedback to underwriting teams. You’ll help drive training, process improvements, and calibration to maintain high underwriting quality. Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily, structured QA reviews of retail underwriting decisions using a defined QA framework
  • Assess decisions against internal policies, delegated authority, and FCA CONC requirements
  • Document QA outcomes with scoring, rationale, and findings
  • Apply risk-based sampling to ensure coverage across underwriter mandates and risk segments
  • Provide actionable feedback and recommendations to underwriting management to improve quality and compliance
  • Support calibration sessions to ensure consistent interpretation of credit policy
  • Produce regular QA reporting with metrics, trends, and root-cause insights
  • Escalate material issues to governance channels and support regulatory checks
  • Assist with training programmes and process improvements related to underwriting
  • Contribute to the development of QA framework and scorecards aligned with regulatory changes

Key requirements

  • 3+ years in a Quality Assurance role in a credit underwriting environment (preferably auto finance)
  • Strong understanding of FCA regulations including CONC, Consumer Duty and Vulnerable Customers
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Effective written and verbal communication, with ability to explain complex information clearly
  • Ability to identify root causes and influence improvements across teams
