As a Mechanical Project Engineer at Vanderlande, you contribute to the design and delivery of automated baggage handling solutions in complex environments. You’ll collaborate across mechanical, electrical, software, and safety disciplines from concept to implementation, driving safe, compliant designs. Responsibilities
- Interpret user and project requirements to assess feasibility and apply technical standards
- Collaborate with the PLE and other disciplines to plan activities and deliverables across the project lifecycle
- Contribute to mechanical decisions on components and interfaces in a multidisciplinary setting
- Ensure designs meet safety standards, regulations, and CDM requirements
- Support design risk assessments and manufacturability within budgets and delivery constraints
- Assist in planning activities, identify technical risks, and support milestone delivery
- Design manufacturable solutions within agreed budgets
- Coordinate with customers, suppliers, and third‑party partners to protect Vanderlande’s interests
- Produce project layout packages using AutoCAD and Revit
- Maintain high‑quality file and data management; produce clear engineering instructions and documentation
- Continually develop skills and drive process improvements
Key requirements
- Degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering or related discipline
- Experience in automated material handling or baggage handling is advantageous
- Ability to ensure safety standards and participate in design risk assessments and CDM activities
- Interest in multidisciplinary engineering environments (mechanical, electrical, software, safety)
