Project Engineering Manager

Overview

In this role you lead engineering efforts for a growing product line within Leonardo’s integrated project teams. You drive technical quality, schedule and budget, and coordinate cross-site, multi-discipline teams. You’ll collaborate with the Chief Engineer, IPT lead and partners to deliver capable, standards-aligned solutions and manage risk. The position offers hybrid working and a chance to shape defence solutions at scale. You will mentor the engineering team and contribute to long-term product and capability roadmaps.

Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering aspects of projects to ensure quality, schedule and budget are met
• Manage cross-site, multi-disciplinary teams with clearly defined roles
• Foster strong relationships with customers and partners to deliver project capability
• Maintain clear internal communications within the IPT (IPT lead, Project Manager, Functional Heads)
• Collaborate with the Systems Design Authority on progress, risks and mitigation
• Ensure design solutions meet end-user requirements, reliability, documentation and environment compatibility
• Align designs with the business area route map and manage configuration/change to maximize reuse
• Support supplier management and make-or-buy decisions
• Capture concept solutions, trade-off results and end-user engagement
• Develop the engineering team through mentoring, objective setting and appraisals
