Applied Psychologist in Wolverhampton Cancer

Overview

In this role you will deliver highly specialist psychological assessment, formulation and intervention for cancer patients and their families, across all stages of the cancer trajectory. You will join a compassionate, multidisciplinary Clinical Health Psychology Service and contribute psychological expertise to holistic patient care within a regional NHS context. You will work with diverse clinical presentations, safeguarding, risk management and supervision of junior staff, shaping care pathways and service delivery. This is a clinically impactful role in a supportive, innovative environment that values collaborative practice.

Responsibilities

• Conduct highly specialist psychological assessments for patients with complex conditions, potentially including neuropsychological testing
• Identify safeguarding concerns and take appropriate action to protect clients; report abuse or neglect as required
• Carry out risk assessments and advise on risk management strategies for clients and teams
• Formulate and implement highly specialist psychological therapy plans with clients and carers
• Deliver a range of specialist therapies for individuals, carers, families and groups, adapting formulations as needed
• Perform advanced evaluations to inform treatment options
• Provide clinical supervision for Trainee Applied Psychologists, Assistant Psychologists and Band 7 Applied Psychologists
• Maintain CPD and HCPC-compliant records and contribute to teaching on local Applied Psychology training courses

Key requirements

• Qualified applied psychologist with HCPC registration and Chartered Status
• Post-graduate doctoral level training in applied Psychology with expertise in psychopathology, psychometrics and neuropsychology
• Experience as a qualified applied psychologist within the designated service across diverse client groups and settings
• Experience supervising trainees and commitment to ongoing professional development
• UK-based registration and clearance requirements (Rehabilitation of Offenders Act, DBS, sponsorship information)
• Current UK professional registration with the NHS Careers framework
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary clinical health psychology setting
