Consultant Community Paediatrician

Overview

In this role you will lead community paediatric services with a focus on Children Looked After (CLA) and Adoption and Fostering (A&F). You will work across sites within the Trust to deliver neurodevelopmental and neurodisability care, shaping services for Merton and Sutton children. The post supports teaching, safeguarding, and service integration with opportunities to develop an area of interest and to lead innovations in community and acute care collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Named Doctor for Children Looked After (CLA)
• Medical Adviser for Adoption and Fostering (A&F)
• Neurodevelopmental clinics including autism assessment for under-fives
• Management of complex neurodevelopmental/neurodisability cases affecting education and daily living
• Participation in EHCP processes
• Health assessments for CLA
• Triage of referrals
• Contribution to safeguarding rota
• Deliver educational activities and supervise juniors
• Shape development of teaching/training within the department
• Support integration of community and acute services
• Clinical governance, audit, research participation
• Annual appraisal and job planning reviews
• Adherence to GMC guidance and Trust policies

Key requirements

• Hold GMC-registered medical qualification
• Entry on GMC Specialist Register or within six months of CCT
• MRCP or equivalent (higher medical qualification)
• Desirable: MD or higher degree or research evidence
• Desirable: SPIN module in Community Paediatrics/Neurodisability
• Desirable: previous CLA Named/ designated doctor role
• Safeguarding level 3 training
