Senior Biomedical Scientist – Haematology

Overview

In this role you will lead and improve haematology lab services at Charing Cross Hospital, driving high-quality patient care in a digital, multidisciplinary setting. You’ll leverage HCPC registration and substantial post‑registration experience to oversee operations and support service development. You will shape quality management, audits, and compliance with accreditation standards, while mentoring staff and collaborating across labs to deliver reliable results. Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations of a laboratory section under guidance, ensuring efficient service delivery
• Collaborate with team to provide professional clinical laboratory service and meet departmental objectives
• Develop expertise and supervise staff to uphold high standards
• Coordinate specialist clinical technical and scientific services, including research and audits
• Foster a culture of quality compliance with accrediting and regulatory standards

Key requirements

• HCPC registration
• MSc or IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma or IBMS higher qualifications
• 2 years practical Band 6 experience or equivalent, post specialist HCPC registration
• Experience in Haematology and morphology, quality management systems, audits, and document control
• Ability to develop/write SOPs and supervise junior staff
• Experience in a large busy pathology laboratory
