Residential Children’s Practitioner Level 2

Overview

In this Night Residential Practitioner role, you provide overnight supervision and caring support for children with disabilities within a residential service. You help create a safe, nurturing environment and contribute to individual care plans and wellbeing. You work as part of a skilled team, building trust with children, families and professionals while promoting independence and life skills. The role offers development, supervision and a strong sense of making a real difference in children’s lives.

Responsibilities

• Provide overnight supervision, care and support for children and young people with disabilities
• Create a safe, stable, nurturing environment where children feel secure and valued
• Assist with personal care tasks and, where required, medication administration and moving and handling
• Monitor wellbeing at night and respond to health, emotional or behavioural needs
• Maintain accurate records, reports and incident logs
• Contribute to care plans and risk assessments to meet individual needs
• Build positive relationships with children, families and professionals
• Act as a positive role model, promoting independence and life skills

Key requirements

• Experience working with children, young people or individuals with additional needs
• Understanding safeguarding and child-centered approach
• Excellent communication, listening and observational skills
• Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good literacy, digital and record-keeping skills; experience with Microsoft Office and business systems
• NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
