Senior Civil Engineer

Overview

In this Senior Civil Engineer role, you will drive the delivery of heavy civil and structural designs for UK energy transmission projects. You’ll work within the Resilience team to upgrade transmission networks, liaising with local and international technical teams to deliver substation designs. You will manage workload across Glasgow and other locations, ensuring designs meet quality, safety, and project controls. This position offers exposure to large-scale energy projects, mentorship of junior engineers, and cross-disciplinary collaboration. Responsibilities

• Deliver large energy network reinforcement projects across Scotland
• Manage client liaison from initial contact through delivery
• Prepare design calculations, reports, drawings, and construction-ready documentation
• Coordinate with CAD technicians and engineers for safe, cost-effective substation designs
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure cohesive design solutions
• Provide technical mentorship to junior team members

Key requirements

• Proven experience in civil and structural engineering, with at least 2 years on transmission and distribution projects up to 400kV
• Electrical sub-station design experience essential
• Leading civil and structural design packages for energy projects
• Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and strong communication skills
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit/Robot, TEDDS, Civil3D; BIM integration knowledge
• Working knowledge of SuDS, DMRB, Building Regulations, Operator standards
• CDM Regulations and health & safety standards awareness
