Principal Civil Engineer

Overview

In this role you will lead civil engineering for energy projects from concept to detail design, shaping drawings, specs, and schedules. You will guide technical work, review designs, and support site activities to ensure quality and safety. You’ll prepare reports, manage risk, and mentor junior engineers while representing AFRY professionally. The opportunity sits within AFRY’s Energy Division, contributing to sustainable solutions across energy projects and multidisciplinary teams. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive project success and business development.

Responsibilities

• Lead the civil engineering aspects from concept to detailed design, delivering drawings, specs, estimates, and schedules
• Provide technical guidance, review designs, and help resolve project challenges
• Prepare clear reports and documentation, and support site activities through inspections and construction monitoring
• Identify and mitigate risks related to health & safety, design, sustainability, and commercial factors
• Represent the company professionally, support business development, and mentor junior engineers

Key requirements

• Minimum 2:1 degree in civil engineering
• Chartered Engineer status
• Detailed working knowledge of Eurocodes and British Standards relevant to the UK energy sector
