Overview

In this role you will support the CSO in shaping the security remit and operating model across DWP, contributing to governance and strategic decision-making. You will work at the core of the security leadership team, ensuring clear briefing, risk visibility and delivery of priorities. You’ll engage with senior stakeholders, provide insight and challenge, and help navigate complex system-wide issues. This is a high-profile, fast-paced position that strengthens the organisation’s ability to protect security and data while delivering the welfare system at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic support: understand CSO remit, risks and stakeholders; provide strategic advice and monitor emerging risks and opportunities.
  • Executive briefing and communications: develop briefing packs and materials for ministerial and senior engagements; align messages across departments.
  • Governance and leadership support: facilitate senior governance forums; attend boards; track actions and assess delivery against priorities.
  • Coordination and stakeholder management: act as a central point between CSO, senior leadership and external partners; align cross-functional delivery with priorities.
  • Risk, insight and continuous improvement: oversee strategic risks; analyse complex information and provide executive recommendations; develop MI, reporting and assurance products.

Key requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication for senior leaders
  • Knowledge/experience of security governance, risk, assurance, and wider security landscape
  • Strong strategic thinking and sound judgement on complex issues
  • Ability to translate complex information into clear advice and recommendations
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders and influencing across organizational boundaries
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to deliver at pace
  • Experience in governance, policy, corporate strategy, private office or business management environment
  • Willingness to travel and undergo Developed Vetting (DV) clearance
