Overview

In this placement, you contribute to delivering sustainable water and wastewater infrastructure as part of an integrated Arup team. You will work on real projects—from catchment management to urban drainage—while learning from technical specialists. You’ll develop your delivery, modelling and communication skills, helping to translate data and analysis into practical designs. Responsibilities

• Assess large datasets, perform gap analyses, and scope future investigation needs (e.g., historic drawings, surveys, hydraulic models)
• Maintain records of meetings, workshops, reviews, decisions, and outputs
• Support technical delivery, calculations, drawings, and modelling
• Communicate and collaborate internally and externally; present and review designs
• Contribute to open, collaborative design reviews and seek diverse viewpoints

Key requirements

• Pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Earth Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Geography or Geospatial Science
• Microsoft Office proficiency; programming experience (e.g., Python); FME; GIS
