Senior Software Engineer – AI Enablement

Overview

As Senior Engineer in the CE-SW Software group, you design and deliver AI-enabled improvements for engineering workflows. You work with cross-functional teams to prototype AI solutions, integrate tooling, and create reusable guidance and dashboards. You prioritize secure, responsible AI while driving measurable engineering gains. Based in Cambridge or Manchester, you advise peers and contribute to larger, high-impact initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Understand engineering workflows and identify AI-enabled improvement opportunities
• Design, build, test and maintain AI-infused prototypes, integrations and production-quality examples
• Contribute data and analysis to the AI enablement dashboard and communicate progress
• Produce technical documentation, guidance and reusable examples for engineering teams
• Apply security, data protection, IP and responsible-AI requirements in designs
• Collaborate with engineering teams and act as advisor and reviewer on technical work

Key requirements

• Strong software engineering skills with CI experience
• Practical experience applying generative AI or AI-assisted tools to software development
• Analytical problem-solving and option evaluation
• Experience reviewing technical work and giving constructive feedback
