Senior QA Engineer 1

Overview

In this Senior QA role, you will own quality across complex fintech projects, acting within the Platform Engineering – QA team. You’ll lead risk-based testing, coordinate with stakeholders and compliance, and drive automation in partnership with the Automation team. The position combines hands-on testing, mentorship, and strategic influence to ensure fast, reliable releases. This is an opportunity to shape testing culture and adopt AI-supported approaches at scale inside a growing platform.

Responsibilities

• Own QA for large, complex projects as the sole QA on a squad; prioritise workstreams to balance speed and quality
• Promote a quality-first culture, focusing on risk-based testing over ticket-driven approaches
• Collaborate with stakeholders and Compliance to design testing and release strategies that balance risk, speed, and quality
• Lead and facilitate cross-functional meetings (amigos, go/no-go, incidents) to drive outcomes
• Advocate for AI-assisted testing tools, integrating them with human validation to improve efficiency
• Assess features for automation suitability and work with Engineers and the Automation team to build end-to-end automation
• Mentor and coach QA teammates and contribute to departmental operations for learning and innovation
• Represent Moneybox in the tech community and bring new ideas back to the team

Key requirements

• 5+ years of broad QA experience, including Senior/Lead QA roles
• Strong backend testing skills across APIs, databases, migrations, and third-party integrations (payments/transactions)
• Extensive testing of mobile apps and web technologies
• Experience with multiple automated testing techniques and test data design
• Proven track record of fast-paced delivery and collaboration with senior leadership
• Experience leveraging AI tools to improve testing efficiency
• Ability to design comprehensive test plans and contribute to automation frameworks
