Project Planner (Water)

Overview

In this Planning Engineer role, you will support Arcadis Water Optimisation by shaping planning governance and integrating programme schedules for AMP8 water projects. You’ll advise project teams and leadership on earned value, costs, and risk, aligning plans with delivery capabilities. You will help mature planning capability, improve predictability, and support competitive tender inputs. This position offers impact across water infrastructure, with collaboration across portfolio leads and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement planning governance, processes, and tools to standardise delivery across tender, project, and portfolio levels
• Maintain integrated baseline programmes, WBS, and schedule hierarchies aligned with scope, milestones, and regulatory requirements
• Oversee schedule health checks, earned value analysis, variance management, and recovery actions
• Produce timely reports on schedule performance, EV, resource utilisation, and cost forecasts for senior leadership
• Maintain portfolio-level resource forecasts and capacity plans to support resourcing strategies
• Embed planning governance, data integrity, and configuration control in planning systems
• Facilitate integrated planning and risk workshops to identify risks, opportunities, and mitigations
• Support tendering activities with programme inputs, resourcing strategies, and cost forecast data

Key requirements

• Sufficient years’ experience in project planning and scheduling, preferably in the water or complex infrastructure sector
• Degree/HNC/HND in Engineering, Project Management, or related subject
• Strong understanding of UK infrastructure delivery contexts, governance, regulatory and stakeholder requirements
• Proficient in planning software (Safran, Primavera P6, MS Project)
• Excellent organisational, commercial, and communication skills
• Experience with project controls, cost engineering, and financial operations
• Familiarity with different contracting environments and commercial models
