Overview

As a senior member of Citi’s Services Financial Crimes Risk framework, you will oversee end-to-end risk management for AML, sanctions, and fraud within the Services business. You will partner with product, risk, operations, tech, and compliance teams to map controls, assess gaps, and ensure effective mitigation aligned with Citi standards and regulatory requirements. You will drive issue resolution, reporting, and governance, while sharing best practices across Citi lines. This role offers impact across a global organization, shaping how financial crime risks are controlled in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Understand business-owned products and associated financial crime controls and processes
  • Provide subject matter expertise to design and implement a coherent control environment
  • Assess MCA control framework for gaps and advise on new controls
  • Drive execution to ensure legal and regulatory compliance and control effectiveness
  • Maintain mapping of risk, processes, and control ownership
  • Build a robust partnership with business heads, operations, technology and second line of defense
  • Escalate and report issues; oversee corrective action plans
  • Drive a holistic, consistent risk management approach across Services
  • Engage early on new business initiatives to ensure risk alignment and policy adherence
  • Review processes and procedures to ensure controls meet policy and business expectations
  • Ensure controls are documented and current; stay updated on product/ regulatory changes
  • Prepare updates for senior management and governance committees
  • Coordinate with other Financial Crime Risk teams for a united risk approach
  • Support timely responses to regulatory inquiries
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve client experience

Key requirements

  • Bachelor’s/University degree required; master’s degree desirable
  • Experience in financial crime compliance or risk management
  • Financial Crime certification preferred (ICA, ACAMS, ACSS)
  • Strong experience in AML, sanctions, fraud compliance or risk & controls in financial services
  • Knowledge of payments, correspondent banking, trade, working capital, and liquidity management products
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to challenge management, escalate issues, and drive change
  • Self-starter with multi-tasking and prioritization abilities
