In this role you will deliver high-quality, commercially focused employment law advice with a primary emphasis on litigation to support Imperial College London’s People Function and Legal & Regulatory Affairs. You will work with cross-functional teams on disciplinaries, grievances, TUPE transactions, investigations and restructurings, providing pragmatic risk-based guidance. The position supports the University’s strategic objectives in a complex employment landscape, including union engagement and specialist matters. Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality employment law advice with a focus on litigation
- Advise on disciplinaries, grievances, TUPE transactions, investigations and restructuring exercises
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver robust, value-for-money legal solutions
- Assess legal and other risks to inform pragmatic decisions
- Support Senior Legal Counsel (Employment) where capacity permits
Key requirements
- Qualified solicitor or barrister with current Practising Certificate in England and Wales
- Degree-level education or equivalent experience
- Experience delivering high-quality employment litigation advice and representation
- Experience in a unionised environment and advising on collective consultation and pay and reward
- Strong analytical ability to assess data, identify risks and make pragmatic decisions
- Excellent oral and written communication and strong drafting and negotiation skills
